Origin

From cultivation to your cup - learn more about the origin of the raw coffee here.

The Fazenda Dutra is a family-run coffee farm located in São João do Manhuaçu, about 300 kilometers inland from Brazil’s east coast. In the 1950s, José Dutra Sobrinho inherited a 1-hectare coffee farm, which he successfully cultivated and continuously developed over more than 40 years. He used the 1986 coffee price crisis as an opportunity to “work even harder” and further deepen his passion for coffee. Through the acquisition of additional land, the farm steadily expanded.

After José’s passing in September 1999, his sons Walter Cesar Dutra and Ednilson Alves Dutra took over the farm’s management. They continued their father’s vision and invested in their coffee education—among others at the Illy Coffee University—and demonstrated their expertise in competitions: over 80 awards for coffee quality highlight their commitment.

The plantations of Fazenda Dutra are not limited to coffee trees: avocado trees grow among the coffee plants, while the remaining area consists of preserved native forest and cultivated eucalyptus, which is used during harvest time and in the drying process.

This blend of diversity and sustainability supports soil fertility, the natural shade of the coffee plants, and a balanced microclimate.

The farm employs 50 full-time workers, plus 250 seasonal workers, and during harvest season up to 600 pickers. The full-time team includes Leonardo Rodrigues, a Q Grader responsible for the quality program and ensuring that every batch meets the high standards of Fazenda Dutra.

The result of all this care and experience is a medium to full-bodied coffee, sweet and syrupy, with notes of chocolate, caramel, and slightly nutty nuances. Ideal for espresso, café crème, or French press, this coffee delivers balance, depth, and a long-lasting taste experience both in espresso machines and French press brewing.

Brewing Recommendation

Brazil Fazendas Dutra is excellent as a single-origin coffee or as a base for balanced blends. With its medium to full-bodied, harmonious profile that is sweet and syrupy, it develops its aroma particularly well in espresso, café crème, or French press. The finish is long-lasting, with notes of chocolate and caramel rounding off the tasting experience. Ideal for those who enjoy a smooth, full-bodied coffee.

Einfach nur TOP

Ein sehr guter Rohkaffee, der nicht zu säuerlich ist und dessen Geschmack lange im Gaumen bleibt. Ich werde ihn wieder kaufen. :)
