Sample Roasting Profile for Hottop Manual

Before starting your roasting, always check that there are no coffee husks (chaff) left in the drawer and in the roasting drum. Prepare 250 grams of green coffee beans next to you. Now set the roaster in manual mode and select the maximum time and maximum end temperature. Then start.

1. The roaster signals you to add the beans at 75°C. Allow the device to heat up a bit more for this roasting and add the beans at 102°C. Now start your stopwatch.

2. The roaster tries to adjust the heat supply and the fan itself, as it follows a preprogrammed curve. However, you intervene and keep the heat at 100% and the fan at 0. Now you can relax a bit during the first approximately 7 minutes.

3. At around 160°C, you notice an increase in smoke. Now adjust the fan to 25%. But not more, as for this roasting, we want to quickly reach the first crack.

4. After about 9:30 minutes, the smoke continues to increase, and you adjust the ventilation to 50%, at the same time reducing some power from the heating element to 80%, as you approach the first crack.

5. After about 10:30 minutes and at around 182°C on the display, you hear the first crack beginning. Now you can reduce the heating element to 70%.

6. Half a minute later, at 11:00 and around 193°C, you further reduce the heating element to 50% and the fan to 75%.

7. Half a minute later, at 11:30 (around 196%), reduce the heating to 30%. Now the first crack is slowly ending.

8. One minute later, at 12:30 (around 200°C), increase the ventilation to 100%.

9. After 13:00 (around 203°C on the display), reduce the heating element to 20%.

10. Once your desired roast level is reached (or just before), press Eject to end the roasting process.
