This coffee comes from the Murago Station in Bensa, Sidama, at around 2,400–2,500 m altitude. The cherries are selectively hand-picked and come from the heritage Variety 74158, carefully maintained over generations by Alo Coffee’s farmer partners.
About Alo Coffee
Founded by Tamiru Tadesse and his wife Messi, Alo Coffee has the mission of making Sidama’s finest coffee known worldwide. In 2021, their first lot from Alo won the Cup of Excellence – a testament to their dedication, precision, and quality. In addition to producing outstanding coffee, Alo Coffee supports its farmer partners and their communities through educational projects, nurseries, and quality premiums.
For the Tuke Murago Natural Process, the cherries are immediately spread out on African drying beds and slowly dried for up to 27 days. The team turns the cherries every hour and shields them from direct midday sun. When they reach a moisture content of 10–11 %, they are sealed in GrainPro bags, then stored in jute sacks and left to rest for at least 45 days before further processing.
The result is a complex, fruit-forward coffee: juicy raspberry, bright Limoncello, and subtle notes of red grape. The light, sparkling acidity is accompanied by delicate floral accents and velvety wine notes that emerge as the coffee cools – a testament to the versatility and craftsmanship of Tamiru’s farms.
