In the southeast of Brazil lies the state of Minas Gerais. Here is one of the most well-known and traditional coffee growing regions: Sul de Minas. 30% of Brazilian coffee grows here, as the mild climate with an average temperature of 23°C is perfect for sun-ripened, aromatic Arabica. Since the majority of Brazilian coffee is exported from the port of Santos, the term Santos is often used as a synonym for Brazilian coffee with its typical sweet flavour profile of chocolate and nuts. However, it does not indicate the quality of the coffee.

From the town of Boa Esperanca in Sul de Minas, comes this naturally processed Catuaí, Mundo Novo, and Topázio. It is produced by the cooperative Dos Costas. Dos Costas is a cooperative of several coffee farming families. It was founded in 1989 to ensure that small family farms can continue to sustain their livelihoods in the face of the increasing dominance of large farms through the cultivation and sale of coffee.

Two Sides Mission: The commitment to the well-being of cooperative members and their families with the highest coffee quality and particularly sustainable, organic land management.

In 2008, after a three-year process, the cooperative received the FLO Fairtrade Certification. In addition to fair working conditions, environmental protection is also a focus, and the land is managed organically and sustainably - unfortunately still a rarity in this area.

For consistently high coffee quality, many Dos Costas members participate in annual quality training and work with agronomists throughout the year.

We are convinced by the philosophy of Dos Costas and the result: a balanced coffee with flavours of milk chocolate, hazelnut, and spice notes.

Preparation Recommendation

The Brazil natural Santos can be enjoyed as a single variety (Single Origin) or as a base for blends. Due to its balance and pronounced sweetness, it is perfect for coffees from the portafilter such as espresso, café crème, or cappuccino. Very pleasant and full-bodied also in the French Press as well as in the Bialetti Moka Pot - each with notes of nuts and chocolate.
